Šmarje (; (ドイツ語:Sankt Marein)〔''Leksikon občin kraljestev in dežel zastopanih v državnem zboru,'' vol. 6: ''Kranjsko''. 1906. Vienna: C. Kr. Dvorna in Državna Tiskarna, p. 74.〕) is a settlement in the Municipality of Šentjernej in southeastern Slovenia. It was traditionally part of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.〔(Šentjernej municipal site )〕 The local church from which the settlement gets its name is built on the eastern outskirts of the settlement and is dedicated to the Nativity of Mary. It belongs to the Parish of Šentjernej. It is an originally Gothic building remodelled in 1871.
